ABB Synchronous Reluctance (SynRM) motor and drive packages combine advanced motor technology with ABB variable speed drives to provide a highly efficient alternative to conventional induction motor systems. Designed as a fully matched solution, ABB SynRM packages help reduce energy consumption, lower operating costs and improve overall system performance across a wide range of industrial applications.
Unlike traditional induction motors, ABB SynRM motors utilise a magnet-free rotor design that reduces rotor losses and operating temperatures while maintaining the simplicity and serviceability associated with induction motor technology. When supplied as a complete motor and drive package, the result is an optimised solution capable of delivering efficiency levels up to IE6.
The ABB SynRM range covers output powers from 0.75 kW to 450 kW, making it suitable for applications including pumps, fans, compressors, conveyors, mixers and process machinery where efficiency, reliability and lifecycle costs are important considerations.

ABB’s current SynRM portfolio covers output powers from 0.75 kW to 450 kW and can achieve efficiency levels up to IE6 Hyper Efficiency. As IE5 is currently the highest formally defined efficiency class, IE6-performance motors are presently labelled IE5 within the applicable standards.
